Ashley Costello was one of the pioneers of rock music in America. As the vocalist and lead singer of New Years Day, she is a key player in the worldwide success of New Years Day. Costello started out by working alongside Lohrbach and Drover for a handful of tunes. The band began to promote themselves on the social network MySpace by naming their group the New Years Day Band. They soon gained acclaim. The group also appeared on the MySpace Record Volume 1 CD compilation, and Saints Row's soundtrack for a video game. The group signed a deal in 2006 with TVT Records, and in 2006, the band released their first EP Razor.
